Elegant Sparkly Fit and Flare Wedding Dress
In selecting the perfect dress for an intimate wedding in our home, I didn't want a voluminous white ball gown. I was looking for something elegant and beautiful, without a train. I found it in this Helen Morley gown, which I purchased at Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills, California.
The dress is made of antique gold-colored lace and netting, over a lighter champagne-colored charmeuse. In the light, the satin beneath shows through the dress, highlighting the lace for a beautifully luminous effect. The lace is adorned with tiny antique gold rhinestones throughout, which lend a subtle sparkle.
I had never worn a strapless gown, but boning in the bodice allowed it to stay perfectly in place throughout (I wore a strapless bra beneath), and it was quite comfortable. The dress fits snugly from the bust to the top of the hipline, then flairs to the ground, in an "A-Line" shape.
I am 5' 8" tall. I wore a 3-inch heel, and had the dress shortened 1 inch because I did not want any hemline to trail. The seamstress at Neiman Marcus easily altered the length from the waist (you'll notice the lace bodice lays over the seam between the bodice and skirt, thus concealing the waist seam) therefore, the dress could be shortened quite easily by another seamstress.
The dress is in excellent condition, only having been worn once, for several hours. I thoroughly enjoyed being a bride in this gorgeous gown, and hope it brings the same joy to another bride!
